Engage audiences
This section explains how to prepare audience engagement features and what happens on live day.
Getting to know the Postbox and Live Feed
Audience engagement centres around the live feed and the postbox.
Live feed is a curated timeline of what's been happening at an event that allows audiences to follow along.
Postbox is how audiences make their contribution to the live event. It is where questions are submitted to speakers or comments are posted.
They are key components of an organiser's toolkit. Using them to create an engaging experience for the audience requires consideration in the planning stages.
Both enable the following:
Audience Q&A: The audience submits questions to the speakers using the postbox
Comments: The audience posts comments using the postbox.
In-feed graphics: Organisers post images to create an attractive experience.
Polls: Take the temperature of audience views with multiple choice questions and live results.
Quotes: Admins share top comments from speakers
Related Content: Promote additional content for to explore.
By default, the live feed and postbox appear below the video player on a Live page template.
Setup the postbox and live feed
The postbox is used for the audience to type and send questions or comments.
The live feed is a section of the page where content appears chronologically.
Using audience input within a live event
Presenter View
Presenters who are on-screen or on-stage can view comments and questions submitted through the postbox on a public link.
This clean, simple webpage is designed to be easy for presenters to use, free from distraction and without having to be logged into the admin interface.
Presenter View is a public link accessible on any desktop, mobile or tablet device. It is typically used by moderators or speakers that plan to refer to audience questions.
To help speakers to focus, admin users can moderate audience questions and select which are added to Presenter View. Find out more.
Broadcast View
Broadcast View is a public link where results of audience polls can be displayed.
Broadcast engineers can access polls on Broadcast View to incorporate them into a live broadcast.
To use this feature, admin users add the polls by selecting the screen icon.
